Kubrick's culture - Creating an inclusive workplace

Jessie has been a consultant for Kubrick for several years and shares her impressions of being a woman in IT and how far we have progressed in making the workspace comfortable for everyone. She does not shy away from giving practical tips for those thinking about joining the cement industry but is unsure if they have what it takes to make that crucial leap forward.

Interview with Jess

Hi, this is Jess, and I came into the company in January 2022. The culture at Kubrick is very insular at the outset, so it is very encouraging for someone like me who is quite new to the field of work and willing to ask people more senior than them close to anything, which should not be the case. There is certainly a positive reinforcement that encourages the belief that no question is a stupid question, and this encourages you, for example, to go out onto the client site. D and I also attracted me to Kubrick, and it was nice to observe that the company was practicing it internally and externally with various initiatives.

Let us first build some context so that the reader understands better the case we are presenting.

Women in technology is hardly a new theme, as it seems clear from press publications and rhetoric in specific contexts – but exactly for that reason, it is even more important to do, because caused by both endogenous and exogenous factors, women have almost ‘migrated’ from this sphere, or it has become less accessible to them. Just do it. I think if you want to work, even just for a couple of months as an intern, in a company like Kubrick that is actively recruiting such people as you, apply, and you will find yourself one day, five years from now, at an unbelievable place in your life.
