We're looking for a Cloud Governance Lead to join our team in London as part of our IT function.

The Cloud Governance team is responsible for ensuring best practice is followed in managing Ascential's cloud estate (consisting of AWS, GCP, Azure, SnowFlake, AliCloud). This covers 4 areas;

  • Financial Management (FinOps)
  • Security (SecOps)
  • Creating, managing and publishing cloud standards
  • Tools used in the management of cloud environments e.g. Logging and monitoring/alerting tools

Working in the Cloud Governance team your primary focus will be in supporting the processes we have in place for Platform Governance. You will be supporting our initiatives around Financial management, notably our FinOps process and Cost Savings activities. You will also get the opportunity to work with the Security, Procurement, Finance and Engineering teams covering the other areas of importance. The role will be a mixture of governance, reporting and hands-on technology work. This is a great role for someone who has a passion for Cloud and wants to bridge into a Cloud Architecture or Engineering role.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively support the FinOps meetings, including scheduling, document prep, running the monthly calls with engineering teams and tracking/ managing any agreed actions
  • Supporting with Cost Savings Management - learning how to raise Deal Memos and managing Reservation renewals/opportunities
  • Tracking/ Reporting/ Alerting on Ascential's Cloud expenditure
  • with engineering teams to help model spend forecasts based on roadmap actions
  • Getting the opportunity to work with Cloud providers/ partners, ensuring we are getting optimal value for money e.g. identifying new cost savings opportunities and POC funding where possible
  • Performing analysis of cloud spend and utilisation and reporting effectively
  • Gaining an understanding of our standard tooling and assisting in enablement and adoption
  • Supporting the teams work on Architecture standards, ensuring they are logged, managed and updated effectively

 

Your Experience

  • This role does not require hands-on IT experience, but a basic understanding of Cloud and other IT technologies is desirable
  • Excellent organisational skills, an eye for detail - and the ability to manage stakeholders through the regular Governance processes is required
  • Good presentation skills and the ability to create reference material that will be crucial in ensuring our Brands are aligned to Ascential standards and best practices
  • The ability to analyse and interpret Technical, Financial and Usage data together
  • Good knowledge of Excel, Google Sheets
  • A passion and understanding of IT Cloud Security is desirable
