Job Description

About The Role

Responsible for developing, implementing, enhancing, and promoting Data Governance products and services to establish a culture of being data led across the enterprise.

Working collaboratively with Data Engineering teams and key business stakeholders continuously deliver, enhance, and promote data governance frameworks across the organisation.

Establish new governance forums, defining terms of reference to focus on all aspects of data including quality measures, recertification processes, governance metrics, security, and compliance.

Provide training and guidance on data quality metrics, KPI’s and governance best practices, fostering a culture of data ownership, stewardship, and accountability throughout MO.

About You

Within the D&BI team, the successful candidate would be:
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about data governance
  • Able to understand and identify business requirements and use cases for governance
  • Knowledgeable about governance frameworks and best practice
  • Understanding of technical governance tooling
  • Good understanding of regulatory and compliance data policies
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn new frameworks and tools
  • Able to define terms of reference for data governance working groups and forums
  • Capability to breakdown complex problems or challenges into manageable goals 
Minimum Criteria
  • Experience of leading on data governance initiatives
  • Knowledge of Analytics and data warehousing tools and methodologies
  • Good understanding of data management concepts such as data cataloguing, business glossaries and data quality measures
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex data issues
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and appropriate levels of controls
  • Strong relationship management skills; adept at creating relationships and building trust with internal and external stakeholders quickly
  • Experience/Familiarity with Snowflake or similar databases
  • Knowledge of data modelling techniques
  • Understanding of cloud technologies
  • Experience of governance tools e.g., Informatica Axon, EDC, IDQ or similar glossary, data lineage and cataloguing tools e.g., Collibra or Alation  
  • Knowledge of data quality and profiling 
  • Understanding of machine learning and AI
Who you’ll be working with
The Data & Business Intelligence Team within MO provides tools and methods for the wider business to garner insights and analysis from our Data Warehouse and Data Lake, playing a key role in providing support to the business in their Data Science, AI, and ML initiatives.

Our Data & BI technology stack consists primarily of: Oracle tools, Snowflake, Postgres, various AWS Services (SageMaker, Lambda, Step Functions, DMS, S3 etc.) in the AWS Cloud.

We are currently engaged on multiple data focused projects which are in various stages of development following Agile practices.
