Group Accountant

f you dream of a career in finance, this is the right moment for you to join us as we are recruiting a Group Accountant. The candidate should be a qualified accountant (ideally ACA or ACCA), preferably with up to 2 years of post-qualification experience.

This role requires a reliable and capable individual to support the team in the fulfilment of the wider Finance department's objectives and to drive forward improvements to the group reporting for DLA Piper. We are looking for an individual with strong technical accounting skills who is able to apply these skills to provide practical solutions to complex accounting challenges. Experience of working for an International business would be preferred.

Key skills include working on own initiative, project management and attention to detail.  The ability to build strong relationships with the overseas financial manages and other central finance teams is essential. The candidate should possess good technical knowledge of current UK GAAP/ IFRS accounting standards and regulatory reporting requirements. An ability to review, document and improve internal processes is also important. 

The finance team are currently preparing for the integration of a new financial system which will require considerable support from this role.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Providing support on the new finance system implementation project as required
• Providing cover for group team as required
• Assisting with the preparation of the statutory accounts for DLA Piper International LLP and various subsidiaries
• Liaising with external auditors
• Preparing various complex reconciliations
• Ad-hoc accounting projects
• Point of contact in central finance for overseas managers for general support, including providing accounting advice, responding to ad-hoc queries and information requests
• Driving for continued improvement and documentation of processes and procedures

ABOUT YOU

• A qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with the ability to provide practical solutions to complex accounting challenges
• Self-motivated, logical and organised approach to work with a strong attention to detail
• Good technical knowledge of current UK GAAP/ IFRS accounting standards and regulatory reporting requirements 
• Reliability and resilience will ensure your success
• Good IT skills including excel 
• Experience of finance system implementation, working with SAP general ledger and working for a multi-national, multi-currency business are all desirable experiences.
