Job Description

United Trust Bank’s Compliance team works to ensure the Bank’s compliance with the applicable regulatory regimes.  The team assesses the adequacy and effectiveness of the Banks Policies and Procedures and provides Departments with advice, support and guidance on regulatory matters in order to help them achieve their objectives and a positive customer outcome.

The role of Financial Crime Analyst sits within the Bank’s Compliance team and reports to the Financial Crime Manager. The ideal candidate will be adaptable as the role requires the successful candidate to undertake work across a variety of financial crime tasks that cover all Business Units across the Bank.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assisting UTB’s Business Units with completion of Customer Due Diligence (CDD) where required
  • Reviewing CDD escalations from Business Units including potential adverse media matches, potential politically exposed persons (PEP) matches, potential sanctions matches, etc.
  • Conducting Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews on prospective Medium / High Risk customers and preparing recommendations for the MLRO / Financial Crime Manager
  • Undertaking customer CDD refreshes for Medium / High Risk customers in conjunction with UTB’s Business Units
  • Completion of on-going monitoring of customer activity to identify possible unusual or suspicious activity
  • Investigation of potential money laundering, fraud and terrorist financing cases identified through multiple channels including: Compliance reviews, on-going monitoring or Internal Suspicious Activity Reports
  • Filing suspicious activity reports to the National Crime Agency where approved by the MLRO or Deputy
  • Completion of reviews on Business Units’ compliance with Financial Crime Policy and Procedures
  • Completion of monthly Compliance Management Information reporting
  • Acting as a point of reference for CDD and financial crime enquiries from various departments
  • Conducting research and analysis on financial crime typologies and trends
  • Supporting the Financial Crime Manager in the drafting and revising of Financial Crime procedures
  • Working with other members of the Compliance team, especially in situations where a customer file may require review and analysis from a Regulatory Compliance / Data Protection perspective
  • Completion of other Compliance related tasks as delegated by the Head of Compliance / Financial Crime Manager / Compliance Manager / Data Protection Manager

Skills and experience sought: 

  • Experience in a transaction monitoring / KYC / financial crime analyst role
  • Familiarity with requirements of all aspects of CDD and Enhanced Due Diligence
  • Good working knowledge of financial crime typologies across a variety of banking products
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work unsupervised and to tight deadlines
  • Educated to degree standard with ideally experience gained in the banking sector
  • International Compliance Association Certificate or Diploma in KYC and CDD, Financial Crime or Anti-Money Laundering
  • Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and/or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or other similar designation considered a plus
