Disability and Carers:

The Ability Forum

The Ability Forum is our disability and carer's network here at AG.  The network plays a crucial role in helping inform and advise our strategic approach with disability inclusion.  Highlights from this network's activity include:

• An award-winning neurodiversity programme including awareness raising sessions, professional coaching and cross sector collaboration.
• The launch of a new self-service workplace adjustment portal to empower people to access the support they need.
• Achieving "Employer" status on the Disability Confident Scheme.
• Introduction of a Carer's Policy which includes additional paid leave for supporting carers.
• Introduction of our Workplace Adjustment Passport and Carer's Passport to facilitate healthy conversations about adjustments.

Gender: The Vine

Our gender balance, the Vine works across the firm to organise events, raise awareness, and tackle gender balance challenges experienced by colleagues.  Highlights from this network include:

• The continued growth and development of our award-winning female development programme, Flourish which has supported over 350 participants through this programme, some of the participants are now senior leaders across our firm.
• Equity Partner Sponsorship Programme, to help identify and support non-equity partners on their path to equity partnership.  We've been running this programme for several years now and because of this programme we have increased our UK female representation at UK equity partner level from 20% (2020) to 27% (2023).
• Being recognised as a Fertility Friendly employer based on the support available to colleagues.
• The introduction of our innovative Parental Pod programme to provider greater support and connectivity for colleagues on parental leave or returning from parental leave.
• Being recognised as a Top 50 Employer in the Times Top 50 for Gender Equality for the 15th time in 16 years.

Ethnicity: AG Embrace

Our race and ethnicity network, which has grown considerably over recent years, has been fundamental in helping us understand our ethnicity inclusion journey and attract ethnically diverse talent.  Highlights from this network include:

• The launch of our student outreach programme, Ethnicity.Talent.Law which provides opportunities for ethnically diverse law students to network and hear from colleagues at AG.
• Our reverse mentoring programme (which has been run across different parts of the firm, including at Board level) has been pivotal in connecting ethnically diverse junior colleagues with senior white colleagues, helping to break down barriers and helping to raise awareness of ethnically diverse lived experiences.
• Participating in 10,000 Black Interns programme – hosting Black legal students on an extended work experience programme.
• Ensuring that we celebrate ethnic diversity throughout the year with key campaigns including South Asian Heritage Month and Black History Month.

LGBTQ+: OpenAG

OpenAG is our oldest employee network and spans across our UK and European offices.  OpenAG have been fundamental in addressing the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people in the workplace and some of the highlights from this network include:

• The introduction of our Transitioning Policy and Gender Neutral Bathrooms across our UK offices.
• The development of our LGBTQ+ mentoring programme (the Rainbow Connection) to help colleagues over come challenges specific to their lived experience.
• The launch of the LGBTQ+ Lawyers Programme, a cross sector 2-day professional development programme dedicated to supporting mid-level LGBTQ+ associates.
• Our annual Pride celebrations which include participation and sponsorship of Pride marches across the UK, panel discussions on the relevance of Pride and in-house brunch networking opportunities.
• Recognition on the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index with a Silver award.

Social Mobility: Social Mobility Champions

Our Social Mobility network, whilst our newest has significant impact both internally and supporting our outreach programmes.  Some of their recent highlights include:

• Removal of A-level requirements at graduate entry to widen participation for applicants.
• The introduction of our apprenticeship programme (both for solicitors and business services functions) to ensure we are offering alternative routes into our business.
• The launch of various outreach programmes including the Legal Explorers Programme which provides socially diverse students with a year of mentoring, a plethora of skills-based workshops, a week of work experience (including a day with a client) and a laptop (to keep).
• Being recognised as a Top 75 Employer in the Social Mobility Foundation Index in the last three years (in 2024 we rose from 36th to 11th in the ranking).

TST Identity

TST Identity ("Identity") is a network crafted by paralegals for paralegals. They act as a vibrant hub for conversation, learning and connection and they believe in fostering an inclusive environment where every voice is heard, valued and celebrated across the TST.

Religion

In addition to our central inclusion networks, we also have religious and cultural networks including a Jewish Network, Muslim Network and Hindu, Sikh and Jain Network.  These networks and communities allow our colleagues a place to connect over religion and feedback to our central inclusion team about ways in which we as a business can support them further.
