Job Description

Forbes Solicitors are looking for a Legal Cashier/Purchase Ledger to join our Finance Team at our Head Office based in Blackburn. This is a full-time role working 36.25 hours per week, Monday- Friday, based at our Rutherford House Office.

We have an exciting opportunity for a hybrid role that will encompass both legal cashier and purchase ledger duties, working with both the legal cashier team and the finance function of the firm. This new role will be ideal for a candidate with either legal cashier or purchase ledger experience, looking for career development opportunities; allowing the candidate to build upon their experience and influence and develop working processes.  Full support will be given to help embed the ideal candidate into the role.

The Legal Cashier responsibilities will be responsible for delivering successful outcomes such as:

  • Undertaking daily banking functions
  • Preparing online electronic bank transfers, CHAPS, BACS, and Faster
  • Bank Reconciliation - Client & Office
  • Client ledger reconciliations
  • Administration of petty cash
  • Processing of client and office accounting transactions including postings.
  • Processing client-to-office transfers
  • Complying with SRA rules
  • Month End SRA Compliance Folder
  • Answer internal and external accounts queries

The Purchase Ledger responsibilities will be responsible for delivering successful outcomes such as:

  • Matching and coding purchase invoices and expense claims
  • Identifying and resolving discrepancies prior to payments to suppliers
  • Reach out to various departments to resolve any disputed claims
  • Setting up of new suppliers
  • Completing period-end supplier statement reconciliations to ensure accounts are accurate

Essential

  • Previous experience as a Legal Cashier or a Purchase Ledger clerk
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Attention to detail and being able to work effectively, prioritizing tasks by the importance of completion in order to meet deadlines
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team, providing cover where necessary

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of accounting processes
  • Experience working as a legal cashier with knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Experience of Excel
  • Previous experience with a case management system, preferably Partner for Windows
  • Experience in identifying areas for improvement and implementing change

Salary
