Job Description

Russell-Cooke is a top 100, London based law firm with over 150 highly-regarded specialist lawyers, working in departmental teams. We advise a mix of commercial, not-for-profit, regulatory and personal clients.

The Commercial Real Estate group has an established reputation and broad experience over the entire sector and is seeking a Junior Associate 0.5 – 2 PQE.

We handle varied and high quality work, dealing with substantial transactions which include: acquisitions and disposals; the acquisition of sites for commercial, industrial, residential and mixed use; the grant, renewal and termination of leases and related matters; acquisition and development of sites; joint venture agreements, conditional sale and purchase contracts, auctions and options.

We are looking for a highly motivated, professional candidate with excellent academics (ideally 2:1) to join our team in Putney. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate sound knowledge and experience of all commercial property work and commercial awareness. It is also essential for the candidate to be able to demonstrate that they can develop and maintain good client relationships.

The successful candidate is likely to have had a broad experience in a commercial property seat and is ambitious, can demonstrate initiative, passion and commercial acumen and be a real team player.  You can expect a broad range of commercial property work in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties include:

Client Relations:

  • Provide a high quality legal service to all Russell-Cooke clients
  • Develop and maintain good client relationship skills, gaining clients’ confidence and that of other professionals
  • Receive requests for legal advice from current and potential clients and taking decisions on the most appropriate responses to make to these requests
  • Establish what needs to be done to solve a client’s problems
  • Offer advice on the law, legal procedures and a wide range of associated issues
  • Attend and represent Russell-Cooke at client meetings
  • Draw up contracts and other legal documents
  • Research documents and case history to ensure accuracy of advice and procedures

Professional Standards:

  • Work and behave in a professional manner and to the highest standards of the profession
  • Comply with procedures set out in the Office Manual, professional standards and any requirement set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)
  • Carry out duties given by the partners or others faithfully and diligently and follow all reasonable instructions
  • Participate in the growth and development of the department / firm
  • Treat all information about the firm and its client and their business as wholly confidential
  • Attract additional business from new and existing clients
  • Record all chargeable hours

  • Support internal procedures and systems of Russell-Cooke including file / case management, time recording
  • Respect partners, staff and clients and in turn earn the respect of the department and clients

  • LPC / BVC qualified essential.
