We're looking for a Customer Master Data Analyst (FTC) to join our team in London as part of our Finance function.

Reporting to the Head of Order-To-Invoice, the Customer Master Data Analyst is responsible for operating best in class processes, controls and reporting.

The role will be operationally accountable for providing a focused area of support and excellence for Customer Master data including all new and existing customers for various brands across Ascential globally, ensuring high quality data and aligning the data to business requirements and group policies.  Additionally, this role will be responsible for ensuring a strong internal control environment across the end-2-end Customer Master Data processes, reporting, country sanctions checks and training needs are addressed.

Ascential’s global finance team is currently undergoing a finance transformation program which provides a fantastic opportunity for a Customer Master Data Analyst to validate, as part of the project implementation, and maintain, as part of the run state, customer master data.  This is a new position contributing to the success of the organization through, enhancement of processes, change management and the agile integration of newly acquired businesses. 

The successful candidate will hold an excellence mindset and be experienced in customer master data activities, complex data structures and building strong in-function and cross-functional relationships.


Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as a “gate-keeper” by ensuring Customer Master Data is accurately, completely and timely maintained and appropriate level of approvals are obtained in line with the Approval Matrix.
  • Ensuring sanctions checks on Grey and Black countries are executed accurately in line with the sanctions policy.
  • Ensuring billing details for all clients are accurate and complete to ensure payment of invoices.
  • Building and distributing various reports of Customer Master Data and maintaining scorecards/KPIs.
  • Driving a strong internal control environment across the Customer Master Data function by testing and reporting on internal controls operated, in collaboration with Internal Audit
  • Delivering training for the business and support functions across Ascential on Customer Master Data end-2-end processes to ensure awareness and capabilities in place
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with the internal and external stakeholders and acting as a business partner to all key stakeholders and the outsourcing provider
  • Involvement in projects as and when required or desired
  • Promoting a continuous improvement and change mindset, supporting the Head of Order to Invoice and other co-workers in identifying and implementing process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Adherence to Group Finance and Ascential wide policies and procedures


Your Experience

  • Ideally educated to degree level / equivalent or above
  • Previous experience in a Master Data, Sales support function, Billing or Finance roles, ideally for a global organisation
  • Previous experience working in a Finance Shared Services or BPO environment, is a preference
  • Previous experience working with principles, procedures and policies
  • Effective communication and teamwork attributes
  • Ability to interpret reports for management
  • Process orientated, attention to detail, committed to driving results
  • Curiosity to investigate anomalies and tenacity to solve problems
  • Self-starter – ability to work with limited supervision
  • Pro-active and ‘can do’ attitude
  • Previous knowledge of Salesforce would be an advantage
